The Chime molecular viewer permits virtually any structure that we will study this year to be modeled with great precision. Our focus will often be geometry, and this tool makes the geometry easy to see.
Let's exam three important solvents:
1. water
2. ammonia
3. benzene
Before beginning serious work, make sure that you have the Chime plugin installed on your system. Click on the "test" link below. If you see a 3D representation of a water molecule, you're set!
Test.
If you don't see the model, don't despair. Follow this link to: MDL. They will ask you for a brief registration and permit you to download an installer. In my experience the installer wants to go into Explorer's plugins folder -- if you use a Mozilla browser (Firefox, Mozilla or Netscape) just copy paste from the Explorer plugins folder to the other (all are subfolders, probably in your programs folder).
